Remarks on the Schrödinger Equation
Various origins of linear and nonlinear Schrödinger equations are discussed in connection with diffusion, hydrodynamics, and fractal structure. The treatment is mainly expository, emphasizing the quantum potential, with a few new observations.
متن کاملRemarks on the Wdw Equation
We show a kind of converse to some results of Hall and Reginatto on exact uncertainty related to the Schrödinger and Wheeler-deWitt equations. Some survey material on statistical geometrodynam-ics is also sketched.
متن کاملRemarks on a Smoluchowski Equation
We study the long time dynamics of a Smoluchowski equation arising in the modeling of nematic liquid crystalline polymers. We prove uniform bounds for the long time average of gradients of the distribution function in terms of the nondimensional parameter characterizing the intensity of the potential. In the two dimensional case we obtain lower and upper bounds for the number of steady states. ...
متن کاملRemarks on a functional equation∗
A functional equation involving pairs of means is considered. It is shown that there are only constant solutions if continuous differentiability is assumed, and there may be non-constant everywhere differentiable solutions. Various other situations are considered, where less smoothness is assumed on the unknown function.
متن کاملOn Discrete Models of the Euler Equation
We consider two discrete models for the Euler equation describing incompressible fluid dynamics. These models are infinite coupled systems of ODEs for the functions uj which can be thought of as wavelet coefficients of the fluid velocity. The first model has been proposed and studied by Katz and Pavlović. The second has been recently discussed by Waleffe and goes back to Obukhov studies of the ...
